horse piddle

Been in t'ospital again today for my bi-weekly checkup......

Got there early.....

Got into the treatment room early and the attentive nurses were great.... a student nurse on placement from endoscopy came and cleaned my wound.  She was very sympathetic and caring.

Another nurse set up my new knee brace and disposed of "old trusty", the knee brace that's served me well for the last four weeks.

Delayed, a doctor finally arrived and gave us a good rundown of what's going on, what the next stage is, and how we're doing.

Knee brace fitted.... knee bending.....

Out of there in an hour!

Three fifty for parking (i am sure they delay you to make sure you get the parking fee to pay the electric bill)

Nought to thirty, in one hour!

Thirty degrees, that is.... i can now bend my knee up to thirty degrees, no more, but often less.

Feels bloody strange and strangely awkward and a bit on the sore side.

Here's a picture of what a thirty degree bend looks like:

Small step for man..... big bend for a robot!

  1. Was wondering how it had gone today. Sounds like decent progress. I think our near neighbour sometimes goes to that Tuesday clinic - she had a knee replacement that went terribly wrong.

  3. I can't remember if it's your left or right knee that was ****ed so you might need to alter this..."You put your left knee in, your left knee out, in out in out you shake it all about..." This seems like an important milestone on the path to full recovery.

    1. it is actually my left knee that's cream crackered, so you're on the money! As for dancing the hokey cokey, it'll be a few more weeks before i can get the foot on the floor to do any pirouetting!!

  5. It all sounds good as far as the hospital is concerned. The rain is also falling so the moors will be damped down rather than alight.

    1. yeah everything seems "normal" as far as these things go.... and yeah it's so good to see the rain falling.... not that we ever use a hosepipe or owt and one of our neighbours was washing his five, yes FIVE cars the other day.... the mind boggles doesn't it?

  6. 30 degrees is all you get? I hope that is temporary and will soon increase. Perhaps the tendons etc need to relearn how to do their job.
