night night

just wanted to show off the fruits of my labour - an experiment with a filter and a tripod yielded this lovely moonscape tonight.

Good night all!

oh go on then.... here's a crop of it...... self indulgent idiot that I am.....

  1. Lovely. Very clever.
Coincidently, I think it must be the very same moon that I looked at for 90 minutes (count 'em: 90) while I waited outside the MooLoo cafe at Waitakaruru tonight for the bus which was late, due to 80% of the population of Auckland deciding they all were going to make a mass exodus on the Thursday evening before Easter weekend.

  2. it's like that song in that film.... I think it was a mouse who was lost singing about being under the same bright star or something.... it will come to me.... - unless it was American Tail and the mouse singing it was called Fievel? Long term memory punt that one!

  3. ok I'm pretty sure it was Fievel the mouse in "An American Tail" (1986) - and the song was "Somewhere Out There" - satisfied my own curiosity if nothing else!!

  4. Not 'The Mouse and His Child?' ... the book (by Russell Hoban)

From the cartoon movie by the same name:

    "Moon in the trees,
    Leaves on the water,
    Tell me my name,
    What am I here for?
    And always,
As I wander under the umbrella of the sky,
    warm in the sun,
and who am I? I must be someone ...
    Stars overhead,
    Silent and flowing,
Tell me my name, where am I going?
There must be, out in the world it somehow seems I have to find,
Some one who’s mine, and know my name,
and who will take me home.

    Stars overhead, silently blowing,
    Tell me my name,
    Where am I going?
There must be, out in the world it somehow seems I have to find,
Some one who’s mine, and know my name, and he will take me home. '
